Fabrizio Romano reveals what Ruben Amorim said about Carlos Baleba during ‘internal Man Utd meetings’ this week

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what Ruben Amorim said about Carlos Baleba during the latest internal meetings at Manchester United.

Manchester United are trying to make a statement by signing Carlos Baleba from Brighton in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim has been supported with three major first-team signings so far this window in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško.

Those three players are expected to solve the attacking issues at Old Trafford but the Reds still need to strengthen elsewhere and Baleba would immediately improve the midfield.

United are confident that the 21-year-old wants to join the club but Brighton will not make the signing easy for the Reds this summer.

What Amorim said about Baleba during ‘internal United meetings’

Fabrizio Romano provided further updates on Baleba’s situation on Monday (11 August) evening, claiming that United are set to enter talks with Brighton in the coming days to understand their stance more.

United have been in contact with Baleba’s camp and the Italian journalist has stated that personal terms would not be an issue.

Interestingly, it was added how Amorim has been telling United chiefs internally that signing Baleba and a goalkeeper would turn a good window into a great one.

“Ruben Amorim, during internal meetings they’re having at Manchester United, has been quite clear with the people at the club,” explained Romano.

“Super happy with the transfer window; Cunha, Mbeumo, Šeško and also the addition of Diego Leon as a left wingback, and Baleba is the top target now.

“So what Ruben Amorim said [is that he’s] super happy with the market so far but internally he feels if Man United can bring in a midfielder and maybe a goalkeeper, that would be a fantastic window.

Baleba deal could spark into life this week

When the news broke last week that United were interested in Baleba, it felt like stories may emerge in the following days that a deal simply wouldn’t be possible.

While plenty of reports have reiterated how ‘difficult’ securing Baleba would be, United remain involved in talks and the longer the stories go on, the more fans think it is a plausible deal.

United will need to break their transfer record to sign the midfielder, and in turn must be able to secure sales, but there is a slight growing confidence that something might be able to be done.

The upcoming conversations with Brighton will likely be crucial and if those are positive talks, then we could see this deal spark into life. If not, United will likely have to park their Baleba ambitions for 12 months.
