Fabrizio Romano reveals Manchester United’s reaction to Alejandro Garnacho’s controversial social media post

Fabrizio Romano has revealed Manchester United’s reaction to Alejandro Garnacho’s controversial social media post amid online backlash.

Since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, Alejandro Garnacho has struggled to hold down a spot in Manchester United’s starting side.

The controversial attacker is one of a few wingers who have struggled under Amorim, with Marcus Rashford and Antony both going on loan to try and regain their own form.

As part of United’s summer overhaul, all three of these wingers, plus the returning Jadon Sancho, have been put up for sale in an attempt to rebuild Amorim’s attack for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Garnacho and Amorim have had an ongoing back-and-forth, with the Europa League final amplifying the tension between the two, as the Portuguese manager told the youngster, “you better pray that you can find a club to sign you.”

The Argentine has never been one to shy away from controversy, but his latest Instagram post may have just settled his fate at his current side.

Fabrizio Romano reveals United stance on Garnacho post

Garnacho took to Instagram to post a plethora of photos, with one of the pictures showing himself in an Aston Villa kit, with teammate Rashford on the back of the shirt.

This post has caused quite a stir, with many United fans deeming it disrespectful. Rashford added fuel to the fire, commenting “My brother,” followed by a love-heart emoji.

In Fabrizio Romano’s GIVEMESPORT newsletter, he claimed that United have chosen not to react to the picture as they aim to secure summer exits for both of the attackers in the spotlight.

The well-respected journalist said, “No reaction, to be fair. Just a normal picture, that’s it,”. Clearly, United are choosing to take the high road, as opposed to giving attention to their want-away stars.

Will United benefit from selling controversial stars?

Despite the headache that Garnacho and Rashford have caused United in recent memory, their departures may be difficult to replace.

The 20-year-old managed 21 goal contributions in his 58 games last season, which was a fair return in a struggling attack. In the league, Garnacho was third for goal contributions, only behind Amad and Bruno Fernandes.

United will be hopeful that the acquisition of Matheus Cunha can rid some of their attacking woes, whilst they still actively pursue Bryan Mbeumo as well as a new striker.

It is still uncertain as to where Garnacho and Rashford will end up next season, but it is safe to say that neither of the attackers can expect to have a spot in Amorim’s side.
