Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive update on one Manchester United target, who is now available for only £21 million.

United are looking to improve their squad in several positions during the summer transfer window.

In particular, the Reds are aiming to sign a centre-back and a striker first of all, with various names linked to those positions at Old Trafford.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that United are among a number of Premier League clubs considering a move for Lille striker Jonathan David.

The reporter interestingly added that the Canadian is expected to be available for a fee between £21-25 million this summer. Prior reports had suggested he would cost between £30-40 million.

While the club are locked in negotiations with Joshua Zirkzee’s agent, despite his £34 million release clause, there could be over £10 million of additional agent fees.

David could prove to be the perfect alternative for a cheaper price. He is only one year older than Zirkzee at 24 and has more experience as a reliable goalscorer for Lille.

Chelsea are also interested in the striker (shock) and have reportedly held talks with the player’s representatives about a potential move.

United have missed out on several deals so far this summer – including Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea – due to their tight financial position and the uncertainty over Erik ten Hag’s future.

Now, they must start making progress in their moves before pre-season starts in around two weeks. Whether it be David or Zirkzee, they need a striker through the door.
