Fabrizio Romano has explained the ‘key’ for Manchester United in a deal for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Reds have already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro so far this summer but are in need of further additions to Erik ten Hag’s squad.

One of the biggest priorities for the team is a new central midfielder. Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay cannot be trusted to be regular starters at Old Trafford this coming season.

Manuel Ugarte quickly emerged as the favourite option and the 23-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.

Fabrizio Romano has explained that the two clubs remain in contact over a potential deal, which could be an initial loan deal, but United must complete outgoings before moving forward.

“Manuel Ugarte is waiting for Man United after agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club two weeks ago,” wrote Romano in his Daily Briefing.

“Man United and PSG remain in contact over the transfer, with a loan deal with obligation included having been discussed. Outgoings at United are key to the deal.”

Meanwhile, it appears that one club has exited the race for Jadon Sancho this summer.

After Sancho resolved the issues he had with Erik ten Hag, which ultimately led to his being sent on loan in January, it was no longer certain that he would leave this summer.

Reports still explained that United were not ruling out an exit despite Sancho and Ten Hag fixing their relationship. A figure close to their desired £40 million could influence their decision, and Juventus were one club that had a strong interest in the player.

Now, according to Matteo Moretto, while Juventus are still trying to sign two wingers, a move for Sancho is “practically off the table”.

It was explained that the “economic demands” involved in a potential deal were the reason why they are instead looking elsewhere.

It is appearing more likely by the day that the 24-year-old will end up remaining with the club.
