Fabrizio Romano explains one thing needed for Antony loan after Man Utd received offer
Manchester United have received a loan offer for underperforming star Antony ahead of the January transfer window.
Antony joined Manchester United in the summer of 2022 for a staggering £85 million as Erik ten Hag pushed for the signing of his former Ajax player.
His United career started very well after scoring in his first three Premier League outings, including on his debut in a 3-1 win over Arsenal.
However, things quickly unravelled for Antony, who could not provide consistent performances or offer much quality in the final third.
Since those opening three outings, Antony has scored just nine goals in 93 appearances for the club, and also has just five assists during his time at Old Trafford.
Following the departure of Ten Hag, it feels like his exit from the Premier League club is only a matter of time.
United receive Antony loan offer
According to a new report from ABC de Sevilla, Spanish club Real Betis have asked United about the possibility of taking Antony on loan in January.
It was also mentioned that the La Liga outfit would be willing to cover part of the Brazilian’s salary, which is reported to be around £200,000-per-week.
This could be a great opportunity for the winger and club, who both want his form to improve before the end of the season.
Should United be looking to sell him in the summer window, a loan could provide the perfect platform for him to increase his fee as playing time looks limited under Amorim.
It has already been explained by Fabrizio Romano that the 24-year-old is open to leaving on loan in the January window.
However, the Italian journalist also explained that United need to give the go-ahead for his exit, as his agent has not yet received any communication that the club wants Antony to leave.
“So basically what the agent of Antony – in public, in an exclusive interview – is saying, is that Antony could be open to leaving Manchester United if Man United decide to do so,” Romano explained after interviewing Junior Pedroso, the agent of Antony.
Amorim may have a different view to United chiefs
While it may be the best–and most realistic–financial decision to see Antony leave the club on loan in January, Amorim may have a different view on the situation.
The United head coach has limited options at wingback, especially attacking-minded players for the position.

Antony has had some good cameos in the role and a loan departure would mean any replacement would be unlikely until the summer.
That would leave Amorim without an attacking-minded option at right wingback unless he moved Amad Diallo, who has been thriving in the frontline, back there.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the United boss wants to help improve the Brazilian’s game and that he sees him as an important squad member this season.
That may change if United chiefs could guarantee a replacement next month, but that seems unlikely with their financial position.
