Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a surprise agreement this week and it has already been explained how this can unlock a crucial transfer for Manchester United.
Manchester United have secured three major signings so far this summer as Ruben Amorim looks to improve his squad at Old Trafford.
After securing Matheus Cunha early in the window, United have added Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo to their ranks to bolster key positions.
Various reports have explained that the Reds still want to strengthen in multiple positions; particularly at striker and the centre of midfield.
However, in order to make any further signings, United need to confirm sales in the coming weeks, with several players on the transfer list.
Fabrizio Romano reveals surprise agreement which can unlock United transfer
United’s most valuable player who they could sell this summer is Alejandro Garnacho, who will fetch a fee between £40-50 million. The 21-year-old is also an Academy graduate and his sale will represent pure profit.
The main problem with Garnacho’s situation is that he only wants to move to another Premier League club, and would prefer if they were competing in the Champions League next season.
With Manchester City and Liverpool extremely unlikley to sign him, that leaves Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur as options for the Argentine, and the Blues seem like the most likely destination.
Chelsea have had a long-standing interest in Garnacho but it has recently been explained that they would only be able to move for the winger once further sales had been made at Stamford Bridge.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Al-Nassr have reached an agreement to sign Joao Felix from Chelsea for an initial £26 million, with add-ons increasing the amount to £43 million.
With Felix set to travel for his medical in Saudi Arabia, it appears that Chelsea now have the money available to try and sign Garnacho from United.
United’s number one priority signing
United seem unlikely to secure a huge fee for Garnacho; the kind of fee they were demanding when his future was in doubt during the January window.
But if they can secure a deal which reaches close to £50 million then it can still have a major impact on their summer business, mainly because of the pure profit from such a move.
As mentioned previously, the primary positions United want to strengthen in are upfront and in midfield. Both are considered important but the number one priority changes depending on who you speak to.

Some believe that a conductor at the base of midfield is something that United have been missing for far too long and is something that must be addressed.
But others believe that a top number nine can completely turn around United’s fortunes. Both are probably right, and hopefully the club can address both of these problems before the deadline, although it is certainly not guaranteed.
