Fabian Hurzeler has already warned Brighton about five Manchester United stars, but two won’t play
Manchester United will face Brighton for the second time this season as they host the Seagulls in the Premier League this weekend.
Ruben Amorim likely had mixed emotions following Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Southampton on Thursday evening.
While the Reds claimed a much-needed three points after a challenging run, their performance fell short against the Premier League’s relegation favourites.
If not for Amad’s late hat-trick heroics, United could have easily lost the match, further complicating their position in the table.
The focus now shifts to the next fixture, where Brighton, under Fabian Hürzeler, will present a far greater challenge. Currently ninth in the league, they promise to test United much more than the Saints did.
In fact, Hürzeler’s side won 2-1 against United in the second game of the campaign, winning 2-1 at the Amex Stadium.
Who Hürzeler warned Brighton about in August
Before that game in August, Hürzeler warned his side about five players from United who could change the game in an instant.
“They can decide a game in one situation, even if they’re not really in the game,” he told journalists ahead of that clash.
“They have the quality of [Bruno] Fernandes with [Marcus] Rashford, [Amad] Diallo, [Alejandro] Garnacho, [Mason] Mount – there’s one situation, they can kill the game.”
Fast forward five months and two of those players are out of the mix, with Marcus Rashford appearing likely to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Mason Mount has suffered injury troubles and will not be back in time for this game, while Alejandro Garnacho’s form has been inconsistent under Amorim.
It is only Bruno Fernandes and Amad who have proven to be dangerous players under the new manager, with the latter full of confidence after his hat-trick heroics on Thursday.
Zirkzee could prove a threat for Brighton
One other player who could have an impact on this game is Joshua Zirkzee, who is nailed on to start after a positive impact against Southampton.
Rasmus Højlund really disappointed in that encounter and Zirkzee helped change the game as a second-half substitute.
Just weeks after he was booed off at Old Trafford, it appears that the Dutchman is growing in confidence, with his flicks and hold-up play benefiting the likes of Fernandes and Amad.
After positive cameos against Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton, Zirkzee will be hoping to impress from the off against the Seagulls.
