Manchester United are due to submit a third offer to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford on Wednesday, according to UtdDistrict sources.
Manchester United are continuing negotiations over what would be their second signing of the summer, with a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo edging closer to being finalised.
Rúben Amorim is eager to build on the earlier arrival of Matheus Cunha by adding more firepower to his front line, though talks with Brentford have taken time to develop.
An initial £55 million offer for the 25-year-old was turned down in early June, followed by a second bid of the same amount plus £7.5 million in add-ons, which was also rejected last week.
Despite the setbacks, optimism remains that a deal will be reached. If Mbeumo completes his likely move to Old Trafford, United are expected to press ahead with outgoings and continue their search for a striker and midfielder before the Premier League season gets underway in mid-August.
Sources: Fresh Mbeumo bid to be submitted today
United want Mbeumo to be at the club for the first day of Amorim’s pre-season training, due to commence at Carrington on Monday, 7 July.
UtdDistrict understands that, following a fresh round of talks with Brentford, United are set to submit a fresh bid for Mbeumo today (Wednesday, 2 July).
The recent set of talks with Brentford surrounding the 25-year-old Cameroon international were positive, with there being hope a deal can be finalised before the end of the week.
Mbeumo is then expected to undergo a medical with the club before signing terms on a new contract reported to sit at around £150,000 per week, plus bonuses.
Brentford have been strong in their demands
United have not had it easy in negotiations with Brentford so far. Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, confirmed on Tuesday that although they would be open to offers, they will only accept what they believe to be the player’s true valuation.
“20 Premier League goals last year, we expected lots of interest, and there has been lots of interest,” Giles said.

“Bryan has his own views on what he wants to do with the next part of his career and where he wants to end up, which is fair because it’s his career.
“Those conversations have been ongoing now for a couple of weeks. We’ve made our point clear that, obviously, having had such a great season, if he earned a massive move now and it was right for us in terms of financially, we’d be open to that.
“But if he ended up here next season, I wouldn’t be massively surprised. It would be welcome. We’d be delighted. It would save me a massive headache, frankly. And that’s not off the table as well, so let’s see.”
This is a developing story. More to follow.
