“Exciting” Manchester United star must be considered must-start vs Wolves after Ruben Amorim praise

One “exciting” Manchester United star should be considered a must-start against Wolves this weekend after receiving praise from Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United must somehow quickly refocus after their extraordinary Europa League triumph over Lyon on Thursday night.

Ruben Amorim’s side turn their attention to a Premier League clash with Wolves on Sunday, and squad rotation is likely on the cards.

Following a gruelling 120-minute battle against the French side, United may look to rest some key players, potentially giving a few youngsters the opportunity to feature at Old Trafford.

Amorim suggested after the victory on Thursday that he would have to bring in Academy players even though the conditions are not ideal.

One of those players has proven himself on the pitch and at the training ground, making him a must-start for the game on the weekend.

Amass should be considered must-start vs Wolves

Harry Amass has now made three appearances for the first-team this season and the latest of those came as a substitute in the crazy win over Lyon.

That shows that Amorim trusts him now after positive displays against Leicester City and Newcastle in the Premier League. It was the biggest game of the season in difficult circumstances and Amass didn’t look phased.

Described as an “exciting” prospect, Amass is now in the position where it is not considered to be outlandish to say he should start games and he is now the perfect rotation option for Patrick Dorgu on the left flank.

With changes expected against Wolves, it is fair to say that Amass is almost a must-start for the Reds as they look to mix the youth with experience in the game.

He has looked comfortable in all of his appearances so far and reports have also detailed his work behind-the-scenes at Carrington. The defender is making himself hard to ignore.

Amorim praises Amass progression

Amass’ progression has impressed Amorim as well and the head coach praised him after the defeat to the Magpies earlier this month.

Despite the result, Amass was starting his first professional game and kept an in-form Jacob Murphy quiet while also offering quality on the ball.

“I think he did quite well,” Amorim told journalists when asked about the performance of Amass after that game.

“He caught a player that is really fast, he debuted in maybe one of the hardest stadiums with one team that is in a good moment.

“I think he did really good. He needs to continue and we need to help all these young kids. To perform in a higher level.”

Amorim’s words are backed up by his actions. Putting Amass into the game against Lyon showed that he’s now ready to contribute and Wolves is the next step for him now.
