Ex-Man United player claims two stars have ‘still not been good enough’ despite praise
Manchester United have had few players performing well this season under Erik ten Hag and Louis Saha believes the entire team must improve.
Saha, 42, played at Old Trafford for four years between 2004 and 2008. He knows the standards that should be set at the club and they have been far away from those this term.
United’s performances have been flat for the most part and many players have struggled to replicate their form of last season. Of course, injury troubles have also been a contributor to the things going wrong at the club.
Two players that have appeared to show positive form at the club are the surprising duo of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. They both seemed likely to leave Old Trafford in the summer but remained.
Many United fans weren’t very happy that neither player moved on and Louis Saha is happy that they have handled their situations well following the transfer window.
“They’ve both done really well and I’ve always been a fan of them,” he told BetFred. “I really respect Harry because of how he’s handled the horrible criticism of himself in the last two years. I admire both him and Scott.”
However, the former United striker still believes that they still have much to improve on despite this, adding: “Whenever Scott’s been asked to come in to help the team you can always see that he’s one of the players giving 150%, but there are times where I still believe that he misreads the games.
“He, like Harry, is still capable of improving a lot. They’ve played well but they’ve still not been good enough because they’re both top, top players and they’re capable of even more. Manchester United needs eleven players playing well, not just two.”
