Ex-Man United hero praises two ‘outstanding’ players for performance vs Wigan
Former Manchester United player David May was full of praise for two ‘outstanding’ players after the 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.
United were comfortable victors on an evening where many more goals should’ve been scored, but Erik ten Hag’s side were able to do the job and progress into the fourth round of the competition.

Whilst many players struggled to leave second gear at the DW Stadium, there were two standout performers for The Reds who attracted praise.
David May, who played for United between 1994 and 2003, was highly complimentary of the two young academy graduates in the starting lineup.
It was Kobbie Mainoo’s FA Cup debut, and he handled the tough and physical nature of the game like it was a walk in the park.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho continued to offer excitement from the right-wing and now appears set to feature from that side against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next week.
Unfortunately, the Argentine star saw a left-footed rocket fly onto the crossbar to deny him yet another wondergoal this season, but May still believes that it was a dominant performance from the winger.
“I thought Garnacho was outstanding, absolutely unbelievable,” May told MUTV. “He just needed a goal to round his game off.
“That left-back will be having nightmares tonight. He gave him a proper doing.”
The former defender also praised Mainoo’s ‘mature’ performance, saying: “Kobbie played well, he covered the midfield and did what he had to do. Very mature for his age.”
