“Everything they can…” Manchester United dealt £180m transfer boost as contact made for four Rúben Amorim exits

Manchester United’s summer sales could finally be kick-started into motion with contact made over four of Rúben Amorim’s outcasts.

Manchester United have already used up their initial summer transfer budget with the signing of Matheus Cunha and ongoing talks to bring in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, as they push ahead with plans to reshape their forward line.

With further reinforcements still needed—particularly a central striker and a dynamic midfielder—the club must now turn to player sales to raise the necessary funds.

United are actively working to sell Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony, while they are also willing to entertain offers for Rasmus Højlund if the price is right.

This wave of potential departures forms part of a broader and more aggressive restructuring under Rúben Amorim, who is looking to stamp his identity on the squad ahead of the new season at Old Trafford.

United receive contact for four of their potential sales

In the last few days, it has been revealed that Ollie Watkins is on United’s radar of a potential striker signing if the club can secure sales, and with all transfers now counting toward the 2025/26 Profit and Sustainabilty Regulation (PSR) books as of 1 July, clubs are becoming more inclined to do deals.

According to Sky Sports, United are now receiving contacts from clubs for Sancho, Rashford, Garnacho, and Antony as the summer transfer window looks set to finally explode into life.

The report details that Juventus are in club-to-club talks with United over the possibility of signing Sancho this summer, and that Amorim’s club want around £25 million for the winger. Juventus also remain in dialogue with the English forward’s representatives over personal terms.

Furthermore, Sky Sports details that Real Betis are doing “everything they can” to secure Antony permanently this summer, following the player’s nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances during the second half of last season, while on loan.

However, Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has already admitted that it is a “complex” deal to complete if they want to sign Antony permanently this summer. United want around £35 million for the player so that his sale can be recorded as profit on their PSR books.

Finally, Sky Sports also reports that talks surrounding Rashford and Garnacho have begun. The duo has been the subject of “lots of discussions via intermediaries,” and although no formal offers have yet been tabled, they are expected.

It has been well-documented elsewhere that United are looking for a fee of £70 million for Garnacho, while Rashford is available for £40 million. However, The Athletic have reported that a loan or swap deal may be possible surrounding Rashford.

United’s £180m quartet can revolutionise United’s summer

Should United be able to offload all four players for their desired fees this summer, that will raise Amorim around £180 million to spend in the summer market, giving him almost total freedom to bring in the necessary reinforcements.

Having already signed Cunha and Mbeumo’s move thought to be close, United’s next main priority is a striker. The forward market remains messy, with Amorim seeking a reunion with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, but the Swede himself prefers Arsenal.

However, it could be argued that signing a midfielder is an even more pressing matter than bringing in a new striker, as Cunha and Mbeumo contribute a significant number of the much-needed goals to the squad.

Amorim wants an athletic midfielder to partner Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park next season. It is a tough ask to sign a player who can cover the type of ground and possess the combative style, combined with on-the-ball abilities, that Amorim desires.

Very few midfielders can do this job, and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba may be one such player. However, the South Coast club is said to want at least £70 million for the Cameroon star, and United will need to sanction these sales before a move can happen.
