Aston Villa starlet Morgan Rodgers has revealed a secret benefit of the arrival of Marcus Rashford on loan at Aston Villa.

Manchester United decided to allow Marcus Rashford to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old was not being used by Ruben Amorim and he ended up moving to fellow Premier League club Aston Villa.

Rashford has only started four games for the Villains so far but has impressed in the game-time he has been given. He has four assists and they’ve all been for fellow loanee Marco Asensio.

Thomas Tuchel has clearly been pleased with Rashford’s performances as he’s received an England call-up under the new national team coach.

Rashford linking up with Villa duo at England camp

Rashford and his England teammates arrived at St George’s Park earlier this week but he would have not linked back up with any of his United teammates.

The likes of Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo are currently injured and Harry Maguire decided against joining up with the England squad as he focuses on his own recovery at Carrington.

Instead, it is a couple of teammates from Villa Park who Rashford has seen in England camp, with Ezri Konsa and Morgan Rogers part of the group.

Rogers made his England debut earlier this season after a stunning start to the campaign under Unai Emery and will be hoping to add to his two caps this week.

The 22-year-old midfielder has also been speaking to the media about the impact of having Rashford at the Midlands club since his January move.

One of the benefits that isn’t obvious to people watching the game is that Rashford “scares” opposition and that his style suits the way Rogers likes to play.

“When we go into games, no one is worrying about me. It is nice playing with him because everyone is scared of everything he can do,” Rogers explained.

“We are completely different, he makes a lot of direct runs, one v one, wants to take people on and the pace in behind, it is a problem and completely different to what I do so I think it works well.

“I have played with him a number of times now and I can give him space if I come short and we can work well together.

“It is really nice and for Villa to attract players of that level shows the level we are going in as well because everyone knows the level of Marcus and what he can get to and it is just about finding his form and his confidence again and he is starting to get that.”

Villa reportedly have an option to buy Rashford in the summer transfer window for £40 million.
