Matheus Cunha has sent a clear message surrounding Ruben Amorim following Manchester United’s thrilling win against Brighton in the Premier League.
Manchester United won 4-2 in a thrilling encounter with Brighton to make it three consecutive Premier League wins under Ruben Amorim. The visitors started well, but Matheus Cunha’s stunning strike put United in the driver’s seat.
Casemiro added a second with a deflected shot just before the break, extending United’s lead. Bryan Mbeumo scored on the hour mark, making it 3-0 with a clinical finish from a brilliant pass by Benjamin Sesko.
Brighton showed resilience, with Danny Welbeck scoring a superb free-kick to give them hope. A late goal from Charalampos Kostoulas in stoppage time further added to the tension.
However, Mbeumo made sure of the win with a powerful finish after a perfectly timed assist from Bruno Fernandes. United held on for all three points in a dramatic finish.
Cunha firmly backs Amorim as manager
Amorim has been under serious pressure this season. However, one major light throughout the season for the manager has been his summer acquisition of Matheus Cunha.
The Brazilian finally scored his first goal for the club, but his performances have been superb for a large portion of the season, even without any goal contributions.
Speaking after the game, Cunha said: “Everyone has full confidence in Amorim. He is someone that pushes us forward. He is always very stressed until we start to win, and then he improves every day.”
He is also emerging as a leader on the pitch, with his performances taking the game by the scruff of the neck and galvanising the side going forward. His passion for the club is evident in the way he plays.
“Man Utd deserve this. This needs to be the normal for this club. I am so happy to be a part of this. Amazing day, I will remember this,” he said.
Strength in depth in the attack
The flying Red Devils attack is a stark contrast to the inefficient and blunt attack United had last season. Often due to injuries, the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund had to play every game despite not being in the best of form, and in the end running them into the ground.
However, this season, multiple options have appeared in the forward areas for the club. Today it was Cunha who starred on the left, but at Anfield in the last match, it was Mason Mount who excelled in that position.

Mbeumo has also been fire this season and still United have the option of playing the likes of Amad further forward on the right or even having Joshua Zirkzee as option.
Being able to rotate players and having multiple players in form is a luxury Amorim lacked last season, but it will only benefit him going forward.
