Every word Enzo Maresca said about Chelsea signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca addressed the rumours surrounding Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho in his latest press conference.
Manchester United could be set to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea before the January transfer deadline.
The Reds are in need of cash to support Ruben Amorim with new signings, and the main way they are planning to do that is through loan departures.
Antony is set to join Real Betis on a temporary deal while Marcus Rashford and Tyrell Malacia could also depart on loan to free up some space in the squad.
However, Garnacho is the one player who seems like he could be leaving on a permanent transfer due to the higher value he holds.
The club are looking for anywhere between £60-75 million for the 20-year-old winger, depending on which reports you listen to and that would be a major help to the financial situation at Old Trafford.
Garnacho joined the club in 2020 from Atletico Madrid for less than £500,000 and his sale would be classified as ‘pure profit’ on the books.
Napoli are also rumoured to be interested in signing the Argentine but all the latest reports suggest that Chelsea are leading the race for the winger.
Maresca plays down Garnacho rumours
During his latest press conference, Enzo Maresca was asked about the propspect of Chelsea signing Garnacho from United.
The former Manchester City assistant coach played down the rumours and suggested that he is happy with the options he currently has on the wings at Stamford Bridge.
“No, no, I’m happy with the ones we have in this moment,” he told reporters in response to the rumours surrounding Garnacho.
“I have said many times, on the right side is Pedro [Neto] and Noni [Madueke] and on the left side is Jadon [Sancho].
“Misha [Mudryk] was with us but now he is not with us, Tyrique [George] is a young profile that can help us. In this moment, we are okay.”
Maresca can’t rule out January signings
Despite keeping his cards close to his chest, when pushed further on any potential signings for Chelsea before the January deadline, Maresca could not rule out any business.
“Listen, the club, the sporting directors, we pay attention if something can happen,” he added.
“But at the moment, as you said, 10 days to go and we haven’t done nothing. We called back Trev [Chalobah] and we will see in the next 10 days if something is going to happen.”

Chelsea have been extravagant spenders in recent years and currently have one of the most expensive Premier League squads in history.
It remains to be seen whether they will add to those numbers this month by signing Garnacho for upwards of £60 million, but it is certainly something that would split opinions amongst United fans.
