Every Man Utd player involved in Ruben Amorim’s first training session, includes 14 youth stars
Ruben Amorim took charge of his first Manchester United training session on Monday afternoon and 14 youth team stars participated.
Manchester United are preparing for a challenging winter schedule under new head coach Ruben Amorim, which includes crucial fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Currently 13th in the Premier League, Amorim’s primary goal is to improve the team’s performances and bridge the four-point gap to the top four.
After starting his role last week, the 39-year-old finally got to work on the training pitch at Carrington on Monday, following visa approvals for him and his staff.
The club shared images and videos from the session, showing a lively atmosphere and some players adapting to new positions.
Amorim was hands-on throughout, from engaging in a duel with Jonny Evans to mentoring Kobbie Mainoo on the subtle techniques of receiving a pass with disguised intent.
One of the main takeaways from the session was the amount of Academy players involved, with 14 youth players in the 22-man training squad.
The new head coach is well-known for integrating youth stars from his time at Sporting but this would’ve mostly been due to the lack of numbers due to the international break.
Nevertheless, it still gave those 14 young players the opportunity to give Amorim a good first impression and potentially put their name in his head for future first-team involvement.
Hubert Graczyk (21) and Dermot Mee (21) joined Tom Heaton as the goalkeepers in the session, with André Onana and Altay Bayındır away with their nations.
It was well-reported that 16-year-old Godwill Kukonki reported for training after impressing in the Under-18s so far this season. Dan Armer (17), another highly-rated centre-back, Louis Jackson (19) and Jack Kingdon (18) joined him.
Fullbacks Sam Murray (20) and Jaydan Kamason (17) were also in the session to join first-team defenders Leny Yoro, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw.
Meanwhile, in the midfield, Finley McAllister (18), Jim Thwaites (16) and Ruben Curley (19) were alongside Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount.
Finally, attacking talents Malachi Sharpe (18), Ethan Williams (19) and Ashton Missin (18) joined the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony and Amad.
