Every Manchester United fan is saying the same thing about Chido Obi after one “terrible” Rúben Amorim man is told the brutal truth.
Manchester United suffered their 15th Premier League defeat of the season as Rúben Amorim’s side was beaten 1-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers in a drab encounter at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The match began with Wolves attempting to make their mark away from home, but the first 25 minutes were uneventful, with neither team registering a shot on target.
As United started to grow into the game, things became slightly more lively, but neither side could break the deadlock before the break, with Kobbie Mainoo’s speculative shot sailing just wide of the goal.
The first real opportunity of the second half fell to Rasmus Højlund, who broke through on goal but was caught in two minds, and his attempt was blocked. Wolves finally took the lead 15 minutes from time through a brilliant free-kick by Pablo Sarabia, which flew past André Onana.
United pushed for an equaliser in the dying moments, but despite their efforts, they were unable to break through, and Amorim’s men suffered yet another league defeat at Old Trafford.
Højlund told brutal truth after “terrible” display
Højlund’s time at United currently feels as if it is getting darker and darker with each passing fixture, with the Wolves result now meaning the striker has scored just one Premier League goal in his last 18 appearances in the competition.
Almost all United fans agree that the player has not been given enough time to develop at United and is still a very raw striker, with little doubt in most people’s minds that, had he been given the chance to bed into the club under the guise of a senior striker, he would be better off lnog-term.
However, with the current state United are in, the club cannot afford to have their first-choice striker as a player who needs time and space to develop when no goals are coming from elsewhere, with the 22-year-old’s performance against Wolves branded as “terrible” after his failed efforts in front of goal.
Unfortunately for Højlund, the brutal truth is that, unless he can step up a gear and find a consistent goalscoring touch between now and the end of the season, his time at United may be coming to a premature end in the summer.
United fans are all saying the same thing about Obi
While Højlund is failing to score a consistent goal at United, the club has a 17-year-old striking sensation, Chido Obi, waiting in the wings, with the young Dane making his fourth appearance for the club off the bench on Sunday afternoon.
While it would be too much to ask of the young star to bear the load Højlund currently has, many United fans are starting to point out that Obi may end up being the beneficiary of the set-up Højlund has not been delivered.
While the club have been linked to young strikers such as Liam Delap and Benjamin Šeško in recent weeks, many fans are calling for the club to secure instead the transfer of £55 million-rated Victor Osimhen, who is an established elite goalscorer.
Should United sign Osimhen or an experienced striker of his ilk this summer, Obi will be able to learn valuable lessons that Højlund has not been afforded and benefit from a much more sheltered and positive environment.
