Everton vs Manchester United referee confirmed – Rúben Amorim red card resurfaces, Everton unhappy
The Premier League have confirmed who will referee Manchester United’s upcoming fixture as Everton will not be happy to see the return of an official who caused thim grief previously.
Manchester United will be looking to fix their recent woes as they line up to face Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Last time out, Rúben Amorim’s men fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away from home against Tottenham Hotspur, which sunk the Old Trafford outfit to 15th in the league table.
With the club under ever-increasing pressure, Everton provided Amorim with his biggest win yet while at the club’s helm where Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford both scored braces in a 4-0 in in November.
However, former United boss David Moyes has since been appointed as the new boss on Merseyside and has helped guide an uptick in form, raising the club to one point and one place above United in the table after 25 games.
The match referees for the Saturday fixture have been confirmed below.
Confirmed officials
Andrew Madley (pictured below) will be the referee on Saturday afternoon in Liverpool. Madley has officiated 12 Premier League matches this season and six in other domestic competitions, including two Championship fixtures.
So far this season, Madley has issued 48 yellow cards in the Premier League and 68 across all competitions. He has issued one red card and has awarded three penalties this season, two in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup.
Madley has met United twice this season, officiating the side’s 5-2 win against Leicester City at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
He also oversaw the tense 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the FA Cup, where United prevailed on penalties after Diogo Dalot was sent off, which was the first red card of Amorim’s tenure at the club.

During the game, Mat Wilkes and Craig Taylor will serve as Madley’s assistant referees. Anthony Taylor will be the fourth official on Sunday afternoon, separating Amorim and Moyes.
Everton may rue the decision to appoint Matt Donohue as the Video Assistant Referee. The club were unhappy after a tight VAR call denied them a last-minute equaliser against Southampton earlier this season, with Donohue the ultimate decision maker. Derek Eaton will act as assistant VAR.
