Erik ten Hag’s reaction to Manchester United’s seemingly reluctant stance on midfielder Casemiro is clear.

Manchester United are looking to offload multiple players this summer as INEOS look to raise maximum possible funds for incomings.

While Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro have already joined for a combined £88 million, Erik ten Hag‘s side have shifted the likes of Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Donny van de Beek among others from Old Trafford.

However, there were other players that the club would have hoped to move on that have not garnered the transfer interest they would have liked, with one of those being Casemiro.

According to The Telegraph, during their initial plans, United had hoped that Casemiro would have been one of the names they could shift on, but there have been not takers.

It seems that United are reluctantly accepting that Casemiro will stay at United for another season unless a major change happens in the final weeks of the window.

The reason why the club would be keen to move the Brazilian on is that he is on wages rumoured to be as high as £350,000 a week, making him the club’s highest earner in a period where INEOS want to significantly reduce their wage bill.

Following this news, Ten Hag’s stance on Casemiro likely staying at Old Trafford is clear. Speaking while on tour, the Dutch manager explained that a firing Casemiro is a very impactful player for the Reds.

“We have seen that Casemiro in his career is so successful,” Ten Hag told the press while on tour in America.

“For instance, in the previous season, he was so important to achieve all the success we had there. So when he is on this level, he is a very impactful player for us.”

While United are searching for a new midfielder this summer, Casemiro will certainly play a significant part in the season should he stay at the club.

Should the Brazilan have a more rotation role next season, he may be able to impact at his best when it matters most while having more rest time across all competitions in 2024/25 – particularly considering the additional Europa League fixtures.
