Erik ten Hag is reportedly planning to put his Manchester United players through a “gruelling boot camp” ahead of the next Premier League season.

After the beginning of last season saw Erik ten Hag‘s squad lose 2-1 to Brighton on their opening day of the Premier League season followed by a 4-0 loss to Brentford, Manchester United will no doubt be wanting to kick off next season with a much better start.

United players begin their pre-season training at the beginning of July, with the players returning to training in two phases.

Ten Hag has been busy drawing up his pre-season plans and according to The Sun, United staff have dubbed his plans ‘Hell Week’.

The report states that staff at Carrington were given a “list of instructions” to ensure everything is ready for pre-season training, as well as to expect Ten Hag to be back at the base as early as next weekend.

Ten Hag is said to have planned four days of double sessions with an even greater emphasis on building stamina across his squad.

It is further stated that he has demanded all the pitches are ready by the end of this week, with those who did not play on international duty due back on Monday 3 July.

A source told The Sun: “Last summer Erik had players doing press-ups and other fitness forfeits to try and build spirit.

“This time it sounds like some might actually have their spirits broken!”
