Erik ten Hag’s interesting comments on new Man United coach resurface, INEOS must listen
Erik ten Hag’s interesting comments on one of his potential new coaches at Manchester United have resurfaced, and he will want INEOS to listen to them.
It was revealed earlier this month that Ten Hag would remain as Manchester United manager after INEOS‘ end-of-season review.
However, reports did suggest that the new United leaders wanted to see the Dutchman’s coaching staff reshuffled and that is exactly what’s beginning to happen.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to return to the club as Ten Hag’s assistant coach despite having an offer from Burnley to become their manager.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Go Ahead Eagles manager René Hake is also going to be a new addition to Ten Hag’s coaching team for next season.
Hake, 52, has managed Twente, FC Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles. All three are prior employers of Ten Hag.
He led Go Ahead Eagles to a ninth-place finish in the Eredivisie, their best position for over 40 years and also had a good experience at Utrecht for two years.
When Hake was appointed as Utrecht manager in 2020, Ten Hag sent his fellow Dutchman a supportive message and said that his former board must give him time.
“I hope that FC Utrecht has patience,” said Ten Hag. “Look, as a head coach, you just have to deliver. Difficult program or not.
“But people like Frans van Seumeren, Jordy Zuidam and the supervisory board must be able to see through certain things. They have to look at what he delivers and what can grow from that.
“I think he can refloat the ship. René is good, but not a magician. You can’t expect miracles in six weeks. Utrecht must give him a fair chance.”
This is likely a message that the United boss will be telling Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS. He will have a new coaching unit next season, and they’ll need to learn to work together quickly.
