Erik ten Hag speaks on Andrè Onana’s place at Manchester United after second error
Andrè Onana has not had a dream start to life as a Manchester United after making multiple costly errors in the Champions League.
Andrè Onana‘s two Champions League appearances so far have seen him make two costly errors against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
In Germany, Onana failed to parry the ball off target and instead fumbled it into the back of the net. Against Galatasaray, it was his wayward pass that led to Casemiro conceding a penalty and being sent off – and although the penalty was off-target, the pressure created from the moment was ultimately too much for United.

Erik ten Hag’s club have conceded 18 goals so far in 10 games this season, with Onana in goal for every minute so far this campaign; but the manager still believes in his £45 million signing.
“We are happy with our goalkeeping group,” Ten Hag said after the tie. “Andrè was in one semi-final, last season in a final of the Champions League.
“He can be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. We have seen already his great capabilities and also his personality. He will bounce back.”
With United playing Brentford on the weekend in their final fixture before the international break, many will hope that the Old Trafford tie can be a pivot point for the club to turn their season around.
However, there have also been calls that Altay Bayındır, United’s other summer signing in the goalkeeper department, should be given a chance in the team.
