“Are you…” Erik ten Hag snaps back as journalist says what Manchester United fans are thinking

Erik ten Hag snapped back at a journalist after he asked a question that all Manchester United fans are thinking following the loss against Liverpool.

Manchester United endured their second loss in three games, falling 3-0 to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

Casemiro’s two costly mistakes in the first half gifted Mohamed Salah the chance to assist Luis Díaz for a pair of impressive goals.

Even after Toby Collyer replaced Casemiro at half-time, Liverpool continued to control the game, with Salah adding a third goal to complete the rout.

Although the three goals could all be chalked down to two individual errors by Casemiro in the first half and then one from Kobbie Mainoo in the second half, the number of times individual errors are made at United raises the question of if it’s the system causing these errors.

This was the question posed to Ten Hag at full-time, but he snapped back at this notion, saying he feels “sorry” that this was said journalist’s interpretation.

“You are sure?” Ten Hag retorted. “I don’t think so or you wouldn’t win trophies like we did and to beat big opponents. I’m sorry for you. After City we won the most trophies. I’m sorry for you.”

Further, Ten Hag explained that he doesn’t believe there are parallels between United’s failures last season and the opening three fixtures of this campaign.

“We will see. Just third game in the season, we have to build a new team,” he said.

“I have to explain this so many times. Also on Friday at the press conference, we will build this new team, we have young players, we have players to build into the season, we had three players first start of the season, they didn’t play 90 minutes.

“We will be fine, but it is clear we have to improve and in the end of the season I quite am confident we will have a big chance to lift another trophy.”
