Erik ten Hag provides multiple Man United injury updates ahead of Bretford clash
Manchester United have three players who are returning to full fitness as they travel to face Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
After 2024 brought an early promise of injury returns, Manchester United were hit with multiple injury issues during the last six weeks, but following the end of the international break, Erik ten Hag now has an increasing number of players back to full fitness.
During United’s last game, a 4-3 FA Cup win over Liverpool, Rasmus Højlund, Mason Mount, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka played their first minutes back from medium- to long-term injuries. They have been able to work on their fitness throughout the international break and will return on Saturday as fully fit players.

Speaking to the press on Friday afternoon about injury returns, Ten Hag confirmed that there “is a chance” that Lisandro Martínez will be involved against Brentford.
“Yes, there is a chance,” Ten Hag told reporters when asked about Martinez’s involvement.
“We have missed him every game because he brings a composure in the team, a calmness in the team. At the same time, a winning attitude and he can express this very clearly. He can transfer that into the team and that contributes a lot to our levels.”
When pressed for further injury news, he added: “There are players returning. They are back on the pitch, they are back in team training. We have one more training session now. But it is most likely that we have some players back in the squad.”
Finally, the Dutch manager also confirmed that he expects Shwa to play again this season after he suffered a three-month lay-off earlier in 2024.
“Yes. I expect him back before the end of the season, that is the plan. He is still on schedule. He will return to our team.”
