Erik ten Hag has rubbished rumours surrounding a potential transfer for Haarry Maugire from Manchester United to West Ham this summer.

In their recent Premier League clashes against BrentfordChelsea, and Liverpool, Manchester United, under Erik ten Hag‘s guidance, have only managed to secure two points out of a possible nine, despite leading in all three matches.

This setback has pushed them significantly behind their competitors in the race for Champions League qualification, with the club now 11 points behind both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

Their remaining hope for silverware lies in the FA Cup, where they face Coventry City in the semi-finals, eyeing a potential final against either Chelsea or Manchester City. But first, they must prepare to face Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag was questioned on Harry Maguire’s future at Manchester United amid links to West Ham. United previously agreed a £30 million fee with the club for the centre-back, but the move broke down due to a stalemate on personal terms.

“You have to see it in that perspective,” Ten Hag explained. “We were always happy with Harry Maguire but he wants to play.

“He’s a great leader, he’s a very good defender, very comfortable on the ball.

“When I count all of those abilities, just now when we are on our defending line we have our problems, he is even more important to lead that line, to make us play from the back. So we are very pleased he is there, and we need him to get our results and achieve our targets.”
