Erik ten Hag reacts to INEOS decision to keep him at Manchester United
Erik ten Hag has reacted to INEOS’ decision to keep him as Manchester United manager following months of speculation surrounding his job.
Erik ten Hag‘s position at Manchester United has been uncertain since Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed his 27.7% stake in the club at the start of 2024.
Due to poor results and inconsistent performance, there has been speculation about whether Ten Hag is the right manager to lead United under INEOS‘ ownership. Nonetheless, an FA Cup victory at the end of the season has indicated a potential for future success.

After months of speculation, it was revealed that INEOS had decided to keep him at Manchester United for the foreseeable future.
Reacting to the news, Ten Hag himself told Dutch TV station NOS: “Manchester United disturbed my holiday; they suddenly stood at my doorstep.
“Manchester United have told me that they spoke with (Thomas) Tuchel, but they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager.”
Further, Ten Hag was asked if United called him to inform him of their decision, to which he replied: “They flew to me in Ibiza!”
It has also been reported that United and Ten Hag have entered into discussions surrounding a new contract.
“Manchester United and I still have to find an agreement for the new contract,” he said. “This isn’t easily done, we are still going to have to talk about this.”
He continued, “INEOS took their time. They are new in football, it’s normal to reflect the season. It’s no secret that they talked with multiple candidates.
“Here in Holland, this is ‘not done’. In fact, it’s not even allowed here. But in England, they have different rules and laws.”
