Erik ten Hag has hinted at one of his line-up decisions for Manchester United as they face Sheffield United in the Premier League at Brammell Lane.

Manchester United will be returning to domestic action as they travel to face Sheffield United at Brammell Lane in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Due to United’s Champions League tie against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday evening, the Sheffield game had to be moved to Saturday, hence the slightly unusual 20:00 BST kick-off time.

With The Reds having a series of unstable bouts of form so far this season, the club required a Scott McTominay brace in the dying moments of their tie against Brentford – and Casemiro in particular was criticised for his performance.

Ten Hag withdrew the Brazilian at half-time for Christian Eriksen claiming he wanted “more football”, and due to an injury that the midfielder picked up during the international break, Ten Hag has hinted that Sofyan Amrabat will start in his place.

“It’s disappointing that Casemiro picked up an injury but it’s not too bad,” Ten Hag explained on Friday afternoon.

I’m sure and confident he will be back for the next games, so very short notice. The good thing is also that Sofyan Amrabat is available.”

During the Venezuela tie that saw Casemiro sustain the injury, he decided to play on for as long as possible before being substituted off – and Ten Hag explained that although it is not ideal, he cannot be angry at the decision.

“We can’t be (angry). It’s the rules. He plays for a nation and he plays for us. Casemiro is a soldier and he is available for every match. He will always give his best, for his country and for Manchester United.”
