Erik ten Hag reveals important message he told Man United squad ahead of Arsenal clash
Erik ten Hag has revealed an important message he told the Manchester United squad ahead of the Premier League clash against Arsenal.
The Reds have been in dreadful form recently, having won just two of their last eight games. One of the two wins came on penalties against Championship side Coventry City.
Now, with three games remaining in the Premier League season, there is little confidence that United can turn their form around. They face Arsenal next and then Newcastle United and Brighton.
Erik ten Hag was frustrated after the 4-0 drubbing against Crystal Palace on Monday night but has defended his position as manager in recent days.
The Dutchman has also explained an important message he relayed to the squad, who were fortunate the travelling supporters last time out were in fine form.
Despite the 4-0 loss, when the players went over to the away supporters at Selhurst Park, they received an incredible reception that was in no way deserved.
Ten Hag has told his squad that the fans are an example to the players and that they understand the difficulties at the club right now in terms of injuries.
“So, you see the fans on Monday, they were our example, that is what I told the players – they backed us,” he told reporters.
“And I think they see how we struggle, they see the problems we have, they have a very good understanding about all the injuries we have, that we struggle.
“But they keep backing the team, so I’m very pleased with them.”
United face up against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. The game will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event.
