Erik ten Hag makes huge claim about Man United starlet – “He’s one of the big assets in European football”
Erik ten Hag has made a huge claim about one Manchester United starlet as the manager names him as “one of the big assets in European football”.
The Reds are aiming to complete their final additions to Erik ten Hag’s squad in the coming weeks, having recently signed Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee joined the club earlier this summer, and United’s attention is now on reinforcing their midfield and left-back positions.
Manuel Ugarte remains the top choice to strengthen the midfield at Old Trafford, while various options are being explored to solidify the defence.
Perhaps the most exciting signing of the summer was Yoro from Lille. United won a battle against Real Madrid for the 18-year-old defender’s signature.
The young defender looked really sharp in pre-season until he suffered an injury against Arsenal that will keep him out of action for around three months.
While United’s depth in the position is now pretty solid after the signing of De Ligt earlier this month, Ten Hag has reiterated the potential importance of Yoro in an interview with SUPERSPORT, as per UnitedInFocus.
The United manager has described the defender as “one of the big assets in European football”, and it seems likely that he will be introduced to the side once he has recovered fully from injury.
“We are so happy we could sign him,” the United boss said. “He’s one of the big assets in European football. We managed to bring him in and we’re so pleased he’s here.
“Leny knows he has to progress a lot and we know we have to progress and support him but we have the skills in our team to help him achieve his high ambition.
“The potential is absolutely there, and we’re sure he can help us win games and trophies. That’s what United stands for.”
Yoro is expected to return to training in around two and a half months, but the club could reintegrate him slowly due to the new and improved depth in the position.
