Erik ten Hag has conducted a detailed interview with his SEG agency where he is likely to touch on his time with Manchester United.

Manchester United parted ways with former manager Erik ten Hag in October 2024 after a disastrous start to the season, which left the club 21st in the Europa League and 13th in the Premier League.

His dismissal came after a 2-1 defeat away to West Ham, though speculation about his future had been mounting following a disappointing 2023/24 campaign and a poor start to the new season.

Despite the club backing Ten Hag in the summer with a £200 million squad overhaul and offering him a contract extension, results failed to improve.

Ruud van Nistelrooy initially took over as interim manager before Ruben Amorim was appointed as the club’s next permanent head coach. However, many of the issues that troubled Ten Hag’s tenure have persisted under the new leadership.

It was revealed at the beginning of this week that an interview Ten Hag conducted with his SEG agency would be released on Tuesday.

In a teaser video posted online, Ten Hag confirmed that he would not be re-entering management until the new season.

The Dutchman was a contender for the PSV Eindhoven job recently but decided against joining Ajax’s rivals.

“If there’s one thing I miss it’s Old Trafford,” the ex-United boss said.

Ten Hag hopes Malacia’s misery can end

This will not be the first time the Dutch coach has spoken in the media since his United sacking as he conducted an interview with Dutch outlet Voetbal International earlier this month.

Ten Hag spoke about one of his signings at United – Tyrell Malacia – and his extreme difficulties with injury.

Malacia was unavailable for the entire 2023/24 campaign and Ten Hag’s start to this season with a serious knee injury.

Ten Hag has described the left-back’s time as a “misery” which he hopes will be over after his loan move to PSV was confirmed.

“It’s a shame for him and also for United that things went wrong afterwards and that two operations were needed instead of one,” Ten Hag said.

“Hopefully for him all the misery is over, and he can focus again on getting completely fit and playing matches.

“It is especially important that Tyrell now continues to make the right choices. In the attacking game that Peter Bosz wants to play, he must be able to handle his qualities well.

“Tyrell is a back that is good in the structure if he can play inverted, When he comes on the inside. He is good at the ball and can manage well in the small space.

“These are all things he needs in PSV football. A bit like Dest also plays. Standing up and then going over it on the outside, he can, but he misses a bit of the real power, the content and a good last pass for it.”
