With Diogo Dalot being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, Rúben Amorim already has a “breathtaking” new idea to replace the Manchester United star.

Diogo Dalot is currently being linked with a potential move to Real Madrid this summer, with the Manchester United star having sprung to life under former manager Erik ten Hag.

It has been said that, although Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold remains Los Blancos’ top target, the La Liga side have already made contact with those who represent the 26-year-old.

Although Dalot has not started life as well as others under Rúben Amorim, United still do not consider him for sale, although Real Madrid are hoping an offer of around £45 million might change their mind.

The report also added that during Madrid’s recent recruitment meetings, the full-back’s leadership and versatility have been flagged as positives.

Dalot’s obvious replacement

Should Dalot leave the club for La Liga this summer, the straightforward replacement is no doubt Noussair Mazraoui.

Having signed from Bayern Munich in the summer, Mazraoui has been a relvelatio at United, starting almost every game and impressing fans globally.

Many have since referred to him as one of the bargain buys of the summer, at just £12.8 million. Although a natural right-back, he has also played as a left-back, centre-back, and attacking midfielder.

Should Dalot leave, many would point to him as the obvious replacment option as he was brought in to compete iwth the portiugese international after the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United.

Amorim’s “breathtaking” new idea

However, following Amorim’s first five games as the side’s new head coach, there is a new idea he is clearly willing to explore that would replace Dalot in the XI.

Amad Diallo has been brilliant since the 39-year-old’s arrival, mostly playing as the side’s right wing-back, with many describing his performances as “breathtaking” over the last few weeks.

While Amad’s long-term position is still likely not to remain as a wing-back and will instead transition into an attacking midfielder, Amorim has clearly demonstrated that his new idea may be to use wingers in the position rather than full-backs.

So far, the general balance has been that one wing-back is a natural full-back while the other is a winger. As United are targeting signing a new left-back in the coming summer, this indicates that Amorim wants a right-winger such as the breathtaking Amad in Dalot’s natural position in the long-term.

The club have been linked with Sporting CP 17-year-old winger Geovany Quenda recently, who played in that exact position earlier this season under Amorim. Although Ten Hag handed United Mazraoui, the 39-year-old may head in a new direction.
