Manchester United’s chiefs are reportedly waiting for the green light from Ruben Amorim to pursue one target who has made a complete U-turn on joining the club.
Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to reinforce their attacking line this summer following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that ended with a 15th-place finish in the Premier League and a loss in the Europa League final.
Goals were in short supply, with Bruno Fernandes leading the team with just 19. Amad and Alejandro Garnacho chipped in with 11 each, but no player managed to hit the 20-goal mark.
In response, United have turned to the transfer market to solve their attacking woes. Matheus Cunha has arrived in a £62.5 million deal, while Bryan Mbeumo is also close to completing a move to Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim is still exploring further options up front, although that signing will rely on sales at United and many of the players being looked at have hefty price tags.
Kean makes complete U-turn on United
One of the strikers who has been considered at Old Trafford iso Fiorentina star Moise Kean after a strong season in Italy.
The ex-Everton forward has a reported £42 million release clause active this summer, which makes him a much cheaper alternative to the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres.
But any deal with United was recently played down as the player had major concerns about the move.
Now, however, reports from Stretty News claim that Kean is open to joining United and that his agents have already offered him to those at Old Trafford.
Kean, who has been described as “electric”, is also attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League but it is said that his priority is to remain in Europe.
The report concluded that United are waiting for Amorim’s stance on the potential deal, with the head coach yet to give the green light on Kean and his decision will be the final call.
Amorim’s stance on Kean may depend on cash available
Kean would certainly be an interesting choice for United although many fans would be concerned after his last stint in the Premier League.
His struggles at Goodison Park were obvious but he was very young back then and has clearly developed since moving away.

There are major question marks over his ability to become a top class striker and start consistently at Old Trafford in the long-term, but the value of his release clause is clearly attractive.
United and Amorim’s stance could end up relying on how much cash they actually end up having to spend on a striker this summer once a couple of sales are made.
