Dwight Yorke ‘not surprised’ with Manchester United forward’s turnaround under Erik ten Hag
Marcus Rashford is Manchester United’s star man under Erik ten Hag and former Red Dwight Yorke says he always knew his redemption would come.
After his disappointing campaign last term, Rashford, 25, is in phenomenal form this season as United sit in the top four, a point from Manchester City in second after their derby day win at the weekend.
Rashford scored the winner in that game, which made it his 25th goal contribution for club and country so far this campaign.

Many have been pleasantly surprised with the turnaround of the academy graduate. However, Yorke, who won three Premier League titles with the club, was not surprised at all and detailed the mismanagement of the forward as reason for his slump.
“I knew all along that he was the best player at United,” the ex-United striker began. “I watched him close up on my course at the pro-license. I went there and saw a kind of talent I hadn’t seen for some time.
“Yes, he went through a period of time that was difficult for him and people started writing him off, but you listen to my interviews; I said he was easily the best but for some reason, previous managers couldn’t get the best out of him. I think that was such a waste of time.
“I’m really happy that he’s getting the rewards now, but is it a surprise to me? No. Is it a surprise to other people? Maybe, yeah. But I know football too well and I know when I see someone close up what a special player he is.”
The English winger is not the only player to thrive under Ten Hag, with the likes of Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Fred all showing their best form under the Dutchman.
