Diogo Dalot has promised that Manchester United will “rise again” under Ruben Amorim.

After eighteen games in charge of the Red Devils, Amorim has been greeted by a squad that has so far failed to reach the heights expected of a Manchester United side.

Winning just eight games so far, Amorim brutally analysed his own team after last month’s 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton – claiming that they may be the ‘worst-ever side in the club’s history.’

Amorim would later explain that he felt his comments were misunderstood and that he was, “Talking more for myself than my players.”

Despite admitting that he was not blaming his players for his comments, Diogo Dalot has promised that Amorim’s comments have inspired the current United squad to better themselves.

An improving Manchester United

In the three matches since the Red Devils defeat to Brighton, United have picked up three consecutive victories – conceding just one goal.

Going on their longest streak of victories since the final three games of last season, Dalot has stated that he sees the positives in Amorim’s comments about the current team.

“I don’t want to hear it,” Dalot said on his manager’s remarks. “So the message for me is that the next training session I have to show that I don’t want to belong to the worst Manchester United team in history.

“You can analyse it as something negative: I analyse it as something positive because I want to change the situation. My teammates also, and we show [against FCSB] we want to change this. So hopefully on Sunday [against Crystal Palace] we can do it again.”

With reports emerging following the Brighton game that Amorim had a severe outburst in the dressing room, Dalot was further queried on the fiery side of the Red Devils head coach.

“Obviously, he is a passionate guy,” Dalot admitted. “He was as a player and now he is as a manager, and I think it’s what this club needs. Speak to all the fans they always show this desire of wanting the best for the club. That’s what he wants. So if we want to win, if we want to go to where this club belongs, we need to be there.”

Crystal Palace at Old Trafford this weekend

Manchester United are set to welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford on Sunday, almost two years to the day since they last managed to beat the London side at home in the Premier League.

If the Red Devils are to win, they will match their longest winning run since February of last year. Yet, for much of this season, United have been on the losing side, a period Dalot insists that both players and fans are going through together.

“We need to suffer as a team, as a club, fans have to be together with us and I’m sure that [we] will rise again.”

United are expected to have a nearly full squad available for their match against Palace, with only three senior players expected to be unavailable.

Jonny Evans and Mason Mount are still out, whilst Luke Shaw’s return from injury is still expected to be a few weeks away from featuring again.
