Diogo Dalot completely agrees with Manchester United fans about ‘amazing gesture’ made by Ruben Amorim

Diogo Dalot has been speaking to the media about the job Ruben Amorim has done at Manchester United so far.

Manchester United are preparing for their most important game of the season in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Victory would not only seal Champions League qualification for next term, but also see the Reds win their third trophy in as many years.

But things are still not good enough at Old Trafford and Ruben Amorim is aware that huge improvements need to occur after the summer, regardless of whether they win the Europa League or not.

Diogo Dalot is one of the players pushing to be available for that game in Bilbao, with the defender currently injured but working hard on the training pitch to return in time.

Dalot agrees with United fans about Amorim gesture

Ahead of the final, Dalot has been speaking to media outlets about United’s season and was also asked about an ‘amazing gesture’ Amorim made recently.

The United boss decided to pay for 30 of his backroom staff to be able to take their families to next week’s Europa League final in Bilbao after being told by the club that his coaches, physios and support team would have to pay for their own tickets.

Despite having concerns that this needed to be done in the first place, many United fans applauded the head coach for this and Dalot’s reaction was the exact same.

“It shows how much he wants to keep the club united and keep everybody on the same page and how much he is willing to, in this case literally, pay to be able to everybody be together,” he said.

“I think it is an amazing gesture, in my opinion. It could have been easily all the players doing it but just him by himself trying to have that relationship is something incredible.”

Dalot reflects on United injury

Dalot’s injury came at the worst time for the player, who is taking his recovery ‘day by day’ during attempts to be fit enough to be in the squad for the final.

He has been one of United’s most durable players in the last two years and was a player Amorim trusted to start almost every game before his injury, but even Dalot has admitted that this rest was perhaps needed.

“At this stage I have to go day by day to see how I am feeling every day but so far so good,” the defender continued.

“It is part of the job. I wouldn’t think in these last two years [when he has played nearly every game] a time like this would arrive.

“After playing so many game it was a sign probably that the body needed a little bit of a rest but I am working really hard to come back as soon as possible.”
