Diego Leon’s full message to Ruben Amorim as exciting star travels for Manchester United move

Diego Leon has sent a message to Ruben Amorim before his travels to England to sign his Manchester United contract this week.

Paraguayan wonderkid Diego Leon will officially joined Manchester United this summer after a deal was agreed back in January.

Leon joins a growing list of young talents recruited by Manchester United, including Sekou Kone, Ayden Heaven, and Chido Obi all signed for modest fees but packed with potential.

Heaven and Obi have already established themselves as regulars under Ruben Amorim, while Kone impressed fans with a standout performance during his unofficial first-team debut in a post-season friendly last month.

The 18-year-old arrives from Cerro Porteño and has made headlines with his bold claim ahead of pre-season.

Diego Leon sends strong message

United will soon officially complete the signing of Paraguayan talent Leon, who now becomes the latest exciting prospect to join the club’s youth-focused rebuild under INEOS leadership.

The 18-year-old arrives from Cerro Porteño in a deal worth an initial £3 million, having already completed his medical and visited Carrington earlier this year. His move was delayed due to FIFA regulations, as he was still 17 at the time of the agreement in January.

Now eligible, Leon is set to fly out and join up with United as their second summer signing. Speaking at the airport in a video shared by Paraguayan journalist Matias Cuevas, Leon didn’t hold back on his ambitions.

“Everyone thinks I’ll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset. I’m going to kill it in pre-season and within one or two games, I’ll already be playing with them,” the defender said.

Despite only 33 senior appearances at Cerro Porteño, Leon is brimming with confidence and isn’t treating this move as a slow development step. His mentality could push him into first-team contention sooner than expected.

He also shared how much the opportunity means to him. “The sensations are inexplicable. You feel so many things. The truth is, I’m very happy, very happy to be there. I think every player dreams of this, and I have the opportunity,” the teenager added.

“Thank God for the opportunity. I think it was a bit quick too, but hey, you have to adapt quickly once you’re there. I’m already a professional. You have to adapt quickly.

“I’ll have to adapt a bit to the climate, the language, and all that. I have a lot of confidence in myself. I’m going to be at the top with them. Now with the faith intact that I can succeed.”

Amorim’s approach to left-back problem

United struggled with consistency at left-back throughout last season, largely due to recurring injury issues. First-choice Luke Shaw was sidelined long-term, while Tyrell Malacia never fully recovered from his own fitness problems.

As a result, Amorim was forced to turn to makeshift options, including right-footed Diogo Dalot, to fill the void. This further highlighted the urgent need to reinforce the position.

That reinforcement came swiftly with Amorim’s first official signing Patrick Dorgu, a 20-year-old left-back from Lecce, brought in for £25.2 million.

It’s still early days for Dorgu in the Premier League, and while he has shown flashes of real promise, there have also been moments of inexperience such as his red card against Ipswich.

With doubts still surrounding the long-term fitness of both Shaw and Malacia, this summer’s pre-season campaign could be a golden opportunity for new arrivals like Dorgu and potentially Diego Leon to make a lasting impression and force their way into Amorim’s first-team plans.
