Diego Leon’s agent reveals how Man Utd star is handling life at Old Trafford after Rúben Amorim’s change of plans

Diego Leon’s agent has revealed how his Manchester United client is handling his opening months at the club following Rúben Amorim’s change of plans.

Diego Leon initially agreed to sign for Manchester United in February 2025, but it took until mid-June before the player finally arrived at the club.

Leon began life at United after he turned 18, joining from Cerro Porteño after playing 33 times for the Paraguayan club, scoring four goals in that time.

The young left-back impressed during his opening weeks of pre-season and was invited on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States. Despite initial plans to possibly loan the young star, he has stayed at the club as part of Amorim’s first team.

United’s No. 35 is yet to make his competitive debut for the Reds, but has already been involved in two matchday squads, against Grimsby Town and Manchester City.

Leon is settling in well at United, says his agent

Leon’s agent, Renato Bittar, recently shared his thoughts on the move with Versus Radio and spoke about the fact that the youngster is the first Paraguayan to be significantly involved with United’s first-team squad.

Bittar highlighted that the 18-year-old is “happy with how he is enjoying it, being the first Paraguayan at Manchester United,” and that Leon is aware he carries “a backpack” of responsibility being the first of his country at Old Trafford.

“I think he will bring a lot of joy to the fans,” Bittar continued, also referencing his client’s strong mentality, further stating that Leon is “very focused and psychologically prepared” to compete in the Premier League at such a young age.

There have been multiple reports that, despite not yet speaking English, Leon is quickly becoming one of he most popular figures in the dressing room and that fellow South American Casemiro has taken a mentoring role for the young full-back.

Amorim changes his plans for Leon

Reports from earlier this week have stated that, after it was initially thought that Leon would be playing with the club’s U21s for the first half of the season, Rúben Amorim has stepped in to change the plans.

The United head coach is said to be very keen to keep Leon as part of his first-team training group, with his recent involvement on the bench against City testament to that.

Leon’s current competition, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu at left wing-back, has come under fire for his display, and although the latter is still expected to start against Chelsea, Leon could make his debut off the bench this weekend.

With Amorim under increasing pressure and running out of time as the club’s head coach, he may look to make some surprising changes in the coming weeks in a bid to freshen up his starting XI.
