One “world-class talent” looks set to be promoted by Rúben Amorim as Manchester United return to Carrington for pre-season training.
Rúben Amorim’s side will begin pre-season training on Monday, 7 July as Manchester United prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.
The club will embark on a pre-season tour featuring five fixtures, starting with a trip to Sweden to face familiar rivals Leeds United at the Strawberry Arena.
They will then head to the United States for matches against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton, before returning to Old Trafford for a final friendly against Fiorentina, who now include former United goalkeeper David de Gea in their squad.
The Premier League have confirmed that United will open their 2025/26 season with a high-profile clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday, 17 August, with kick-off set for 16:30 BST.
United’s pre-season squad could feature exciting faces
Two players who United fans will be eager to see don the club’s kit for the first time are new signings Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha, both of whom have joined the club in the last few weeks.
With Leon, the plan will be for the young left-back to initially be a part of pre-season training and play with the U21s as his level is assessed before a more concrete place at the club is secured.
Many of the regular names and familiar faces will return to Carrington on Monday morning, with club captain Bruno Fernandes set to be accompanied by the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, and Kobbie Mainoo.
However, five first-team players have been told their returns have been delayed. Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Alejandro Garnacho are all expected to leave this summer and have been handed extra time away from the club to seal their exits.
There are also set to be a number of young and fresh faces in the squad. “World-class talent” Shea Lacey, who was fantastic on the post-season tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong, is expected to be in the squad next week and on the pre-season tour.
Other Academy stars like Bendito Mantato, Jaydan Kamason, Sekou Kone, and Jack Fletcher are all expected to feature.
United had hoped to secure the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo by the time pre-season started, but as negotiations with Brentford remain ongoing, the deadline for his attendance at the beginning of next week has passed.
