Manchester United starlet Finley McAllister has said he is “devastated” after suffering an injury which will keep him out of action for over two months.

Manchester United have many exciting prospects in the ranks at Carrington, and Ruben Amorim is beginning to use some of those players.

Chido Obi made his first-team debut in mid-February, while the likes of Sekou Kone, Tyler Fredricson, Jack Moorhouse and Harry Amass have also appeared on the bench.

Finley McAllister has trained with the first-team squad under both Erik ten Hag and Amorim. The young central midfielder has captained the club at Under-18s and Under-21s level.

McAllister is a defensive midfielder who brings back some of the old school attributes in the role – he is a natural leader, looks to play physical but is also solid in his passing.

His love for the club is clear. McAllister is a boyhood United fan and even sometimes spotted on away trips to watch the first-team if his schedule permits it.

McAllister announces devastating injury setback

However, the 18-year-old suffered an injury setback earlier this week in the Under-21’s defeat to Sutton United in the National League Cup.

McAllister took to social media platform X to announce the “devastating” problem, confirming that he will be out of action for around 10 weeks.

“Devastated to announce that I’ll be missing the next 10 weeks of the season due to a hamstring injury that occurred unfortunately on Tuesday night,” the young midfielder wrote.

“Another set back that I’m ready to face and overcome as I have done before in this industry full of ups and downs. I’ll be back.”

McAllister will not be back fit until early May, meaning that his season is more than likely over, with the Under-21s’ final game of the season coming in mid-April.

Other United talents could make senior debuts this season

While a debut for McAllister this season seems to have been ruled out, several other young stars could be set to make their debuts for the first-team before the campaign ends.

Kone has been on the bench twice for Amorim’s side and reports have suggested that he is set to appear for them this term after arriving from Mali in the summer.

Meanwhile, January signing Ayden Heaven is still waiting for his first appearance after joining from Arsenal, where he had already played in the Carabao Cup.

Several others will be pushing for involvement and if Amorim’s men are still in the FA Cup and Europa League towards the end of the season, it would not be surprising to see major rotation in the Premier League.
