Denmark boss reveals bizarre conversation with Bruno Fernandes about Denmark vs Portugal horror moment

Bruno Fernandes joked about one horror moment to Denmark’s manager Brian Riemer after Portugal’s 1-0 defeat in the first-leg of their Nations League quarter-final clash.
Portugal faced Denmark in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final, with the Danes securing a narrow victory thanks to a late goal from Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund.
Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot both started for Portugal, while Christian Eriksen was in the lineup for Denmark.
Højlund and Patrick Dorgu came off the bench, with the United striker making the decisive impact to give his side the advantage heading into the second leg.
The return fixture is set for Sunday evening, and Denmark will be aiming to pull off a major upset by holding onto their slender lead.
Denmark boss reveals bizarre Bruno Fernandes conversation
Denmark might have feel like they are unfortunate to not have a stronger lead going into the second-leg after dominating the first fixture.
It was United midfielder Eriksen who had the best chance of the game, with the 33-year-old seeing his effort from the penalty spot saved in the first-half.
Brian Riemer claimed that he would trust Eriksen to take another spot kick going forward although the Danish boss detailed a conversation after the game with Fernandes.
Riemer told reporters, as per Tipsbladet: “Bruno Fernandes grabbed me after the game and said to me: ‘He never scores from penalties. He scores from them every time in training, but never in the games’.
“So he was just teasing him. They had a bit of a fight going on, him and Bruno. Again, I have to say that I would have chosen him again.
“He is the one who I think has the nerves for it. He has the experience for it, and he has the quality for it.”
Fernandes is the penalty expert at Old Trafford and likely works behind-the-scenes to refine his ability from 12-yards, where he also sees Eriksen attempting to work on his penalties.
The Portuguese star poked fun at his teammate but will need to be careful that Eriksen doesn’t make him eat his words like Højlund did in the first-leg.

Dalot joked to media ahead of that game that he and Fernandes were telling Højlund to wait until they returned to Old Trafford to continue scoring goals.
Instead, the 22-year-old has put his country into the driving seat of this tie and will hope to be knocking Dalot and Fernandes out of the competition on Sunday night.
