Declan Rice ‘reveals’ the role Kobbie Mainoo will have with England at EURO 2024
Declan Rice has seemingly revealed the role that Kobbie Mainoo will play with England during the 2024 European Championships.
Friday night saw England play their final fixture ahead of the 2024 European Championships this summer as Manchester United‘s Kobbie Mainoo played all 90 minutes.
However, the match did not quite go to plan for Gareth Southgate, with Iceland scoring inside 12 minutes at Wembley Stadium and running out at 1-0 victors.

Although the fixture does not mean anything beyond a practice tie, some fans decided to boo the England players following the game as they head off to Germany next week.
Many have speculated what type of role Mainoo will play for England this summer, considering his fantastic performances under Erik ten Hag, and Rice, who will be starting in midfield, has seemingly hinted
Asked about how he felt playing alongside Mainoo and how they worked together as a pair, Rice alluded to the idea that although Mainoo is young, they are looking to learn how to play together.
This seemingly reveals that Mainoo and Rice are the midfield players behind Jude Bellingham which Southgate is planning on employing during the tournament in Germany.
“Yeah, look, we’ve done it in March, and, you know, it was really positive,” Rice told Optus Sport. “You can imagine tonight because we’ve lost, some people are saying stuff, but, you know, that’s football these days.
“Kobbie is young, you know, I’m young, our midfield options are young. And, look, we’re going to learn every game we play, and that’s the beauty of football, that every game you play, there’s another chance to improve and get better.
“Not ideal tonight, but going into the tournament now, you know, I’m sure we’re going to be warmed and ready for Serbia.”
