David Moyes responds to Iliman Ndiaye transfer rumours amid Manchester United interest

The summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of the most important windows in Manchester United’s recent history, and another name has been added to the shortlist after impressing at AFCON.

While the most recent January transfer window saw no new signings for Manchester United, it’s likely the summer will look very different, with several big-name players lined up for the Reds.

January saw United’s time taken up with the search for a new manager after Rúben Amorim departed Old Trafford in the early new year. Former Man United Midfielder Michael Carrick has replaced Amorim on an interim basis, impressing so far.

After winning all four of his Premier League fixtures so far, the idea that he may take the permanent role is a talking point around the club, alongside what players will be joining the future boss in signing a contract.

As the end of the season approaches, names are beginning to be thrown around about who will join the Red Devils in time for the 2026/27 season, and there’s one Premier League star who’s caught the eye of United.

Iliman Ndiaye impresses after AFCON

Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye has caught the eye of several English teams, with Man United no exception. The 25-year-old has impressed this season. He has not just made an impact for Everton this season but was a key player for his international side, Senegal, as they took home the AFCON trophy.

This has meant that Manchester United are not the only club who have expressed interest in the attacker. As reported by CaughtOffside, four other Premier League sides are interested in Ndiaye, with league leaders Arsenal also reportedly expressing interest.

Although a star player for the Toffees, the Merseyside club are said to be remaining calm over the situation, with Ndiaye’s contract with Everton in place until 2029.

Taking that into consideration, it has been suggested that Everton would start considering bids in the region of £56-£60m to let go of the striker. With the price relatively low, it wouldn’t be a surprise if United were tempted by the deal.

David Moyes’ stance on selling Ndiaye

Everton manager David Moyes said last month he wouldn’t sanction Ndiaye’s sale; however did admit that when it comes down to it, every player has a price.

“We’ve got no intention of letting Ili go,” Moyes stated. “None whatsoever. By the way, I’m sure there’s a price for every player on the planet if you look around.

“If you’re asking me, we’ve got no intention of selling Ili.”

Everton have aims to be playing European football next season, and with the Merseyside club sitting in eighth on 37 points, just two behind Liverpool in sixth, they still stand an outside chance. Should there be European football being played at the Hill Dickinson stadium next season, then the club stand a much better chance of keeping their star player.

Despite all the interest, Ndiaye has admitted that he’s happy at Everton and has no interest in moving elsewhere. Speaking on the matter, he said, “As I always say, if there are rumours or interest and things like that, it must mean you’re doing something right, right?!

“I am really happy to be at this club and be part of a new project with the new stadium, new ownership.
“It feels like a new adventure for all of us.

“I want to achieve things with Everton, I want to win trophies, which the club hasn’t seen for too long, and things like that. It’s an aim for us to work towards.”
