David Moyes completely agrees with Michael Carrick about ‘best’ Manchester United star vs Everton

David Moyes has taken to the press his thoughts on one particular Manchester United star after last night’s Premier League clash, saying he was ‘the best player.”

Manchester United bested overperforming Premier League side Everton on Monday night, as the Reds fought valiantly to come away with a 1-0 win and all three points.

Plaudits were due for many of the United squad, particularly the back line, which snuffed out any major threat from Everton’s elusive attack.

Veteran Luke Shaw held his own against the skillful Illiman Ndiaye, who impressed, and helped aid the team to a respected clean sheet.

Everton manager and former United gaffer, David Moyes, has commented on one man in particular, saying he was United’s “best player” in the matchup.

Lammens steals the show

It’s safe to say the impact of summer signing Senne Lammens has greatly improved the first team. The Belgian giant has been influential and has become a mainstay in the United squad.

Andre Onana’s time at United wavered this summer, as his relationship with former manager Ruben Amorim broke down, and he was replaced in the first team by Turkish reserve, Altay Bayindir.

The Cameroonian, along with a squad full of incompetence, led the team to its worst league finish since the Premier League was founded in 1992.

Lammens has influenced a U-turn on what looked like a never-ending, dull, and dire period in the club’s history, and he proved that due to his heroics against Everton in United’s latest clash.

The 23-year-old made four saves and commanded his area perfectly as Everton pressured for an equaliser. Michael Carrick was extremely compliemtary of his display, saying: “I thought Senne was outstanding tonight.

“As a goalkeeper, you couldn’t hope for much more, safe hands, calm, composed, came and punched when he needed to and calm things down. It was an exemplary performance, so I was delighted for him.”

Everton boss Moyes offered similar praise for the United goalkeeper during his post-match press conference. “He was bloody brilliant for them tonight,” he said.

“The goalie, the save he made from Michael Keane, the way he dealt with the corner kicks, you know, there was a huge amount of pressure on them, and we hoped we would’ve got a nick on one of them.”

Moyes continued, saying, “For me, he was there best player tonight.” It is certainly hard to make a case against that claim.

Lammens imperative for top-four push

The Reds made crucial strides in their push for a top-four place against Everton, as they hunt a place in next year’s installation of the Champions League, and a return to the pinnacle of European football.

Fans have certainly missed European nights. After an extensive Europa League run saw the Reds reach the final in Bilbao last year, fans were ecstatic, but returned to Manchester disheartened as United failed to beat Spurs and were left without the promise of European football.

That has all changed in recent games, despite a rollercoaster start to the season under former gaffer Amorim, the Reds have managed to maintain a push into the envied top-four, and have extended their gap to fifth-place Chelsea by three points.

The recent form of Kobbie Mainoo, Benjamin Šeško, and Lammens, to name a few, has contributed greatly to the club’s league position, and fans will anticipate a solid final stint to the season.
