Manchester United have confirmed their starting XI vs RC Lens as Erik ten Hag goes strong in his team’s return to Old Trafford.
The Reds had an excellent record at the Theatre of Dreams last term and the boss will be hoping of more of the same in the upcoming season.
It then makes sense that the Dutchman has chosen for a team that could resemble the eleven that start next week against Wolves in United’s opening game of the Premier League season.
One change that night could be the inclusion of Rasmus Hojlund, who is expected to be unveiled before kick-off against the Ligue 1 side.
Andre Onana and Mason Mount start in their first game as United players at Old Trafford. Defender Raphael Varane returns to the fold and has explained the feeling of making your debut at the Theatre of Dreams.
“I spoke with Andre [Onana] as well to tell him it will be very special to play in that place,” he told club media. “So he’s ready and I hope every signing is ready for that feeling.”
The Frenchman starts alongside Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot in what is a strong back four.
Mount, who joined the club at the beginning of last month, is in a midfield trio including Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes for only the second time as he looks to build connections with the two players.
Spearheading the attack is Marcus Rashford, who operates centrally, with Alejandro Garnacho and Antony flanking him. Anthony Martial remains out of the matchday squad.
Manchester United starting XI vs RC Lens:
Onana, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Antony, Garnacho, Rashford
Substitutes: Heaton, Kovar, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Eriksen, Pellistri, Hannibal, Van de Beek, Forson, Sancho.
