Confirmed Match Officials: Manchester United vs Manchester City (Premier League)
Manchester United host rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, with the match officials being confirmed ahead of the game.
The Premier League clash will be a crucial tie for Erik ten Hag’s men, as they have the sternest test to see how far they’ve came since the last meeting between the two.
United were on the receiving end of a 6-3 drubbing at the Etihad Stadium in October. Since then, however, The Reds have taken several steps forward in their development.
Ahead of the game, we’ll be looking at the officials involved for the latest Manchester Derby.
Match Referee
Stuart Attwell will take charge of the encounter shown live on BT Sport.
The 40-year-old has led two fixtures involving the Reds this season: the 4-0 loss to Brentford and the 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Assistant Referees
Gary Beswick and Darren Cann will be flanking Attwell on the day.
The pair have assisted over 500 Premier League fixtures between them.
Video Assistant Referees (VAR)
With the game looking like it could be a tight affair, the VAR could be important in who collects the points at Old Trafford.
Michael Oliver will be in charge of the monitors at Stockley Park, whilst his assistant will be Nick Hopton.
Fourth Official
Robert Jones will be in between Erik ten Hag and Pep Guardiola in their technical areas.
Ten Hag is known to keep a calm head on the touchline in relation to mixing with the other managers. However, there have been mind games played ahead of the game and tempers can always flare during a derby.
