Confirmed Match Officials: Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest (Premier League)

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Tuesday evening as they host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are currently fifth in the table and have aims to reach the top four in order to qualify for Champions League football next season. A 2-0 win against Burnley on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup was an indicator that United are ready to go.

Welcoming Nottingham Forest to the Theatre of Dreams will not be an easy task. The promoted side will be more of a cohesive unit after a month of gelling together a team with over 20 summer additions.

However, Ten Hag’s side will of course be favourites to take three points away from the match and anything less will be a disappointment.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane will be unavailable for the encounter after each taking part in the final of the World Cup. Jadon Sancho is also unlikely to play after Ten Hag revealed he was not physically or mentally fit last week.

The well-known referee Anthony Taylor will be taking charge of the Old Trafford fixture. He was in the center of United’s last Premier League loss against Aston Villa.

Taylor officiated two games at the World Cup this winter: South Korea vs Ghana and Croatia vs Belgium.

Assistant Referees: Scott Ledger and Derek Eaton

Flanking Taylor in this game will be the duo of Scott Ledger and Derek Eaton. They have helped officiate just under 400 Premier League games.

Video Assistant Referees (VAR): Andy Madley and Nick Greenhalgh

At Stockley Park, Andy Madley will be in charge with Nick Greenhalgh assisting him at the monitors.

Fourth Official: Jeremy Simpson

On the touchline alongside Ten Hag and Steve Cooper will be Jeremy Simpson. He has been the fourth official in just one Premier League game this season; Forest’s 1-1 draw with Everton in August.
