Confirmed Manchester United line-ups to face Burnley (EFL Cup)
Manchester United, after a six-week break from domestic competitive football, are back in action as the English Christmas calendar gets under way.
The Red Devils will take on Burnley, who are flying in the Championship, sitting top of the table as they bid to return to the Premier League under new management in former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany.
Manchester United have had a mixed World Cup, as while there may be a new World Cup winner in the squad in Lisandro Martinez, the club themselves lost back-to-back friendlies to Cadiz CF and Real Betis while on a training camp in Spain.

Manchester United had 11 players advance to the final eight of the World Cup, with many of these players only returning to training two days ago, including the likes of Antony and Casemiro.
During these friendlies and just before the World Cup break, it was the academy graduates who started to impress fans.
Alejandro Garnacho, just before the pause of the domestic season, put in some brilliant performances against Fulham and Aston Villa, scoring a stoppage-time winner against the former and collecting two assists during a 4-2 victory against the latter.
Zidane Iqbal was another who gained a lot of plaudits while United were out in Spain, putting in two great midfield performances to add to the impressive displays he produced in pre-season.
The line-ups for Manchester United vs Burnley have been confirmed.
