Manchester United’s under-18s side won the FA Youth Cup in style last season to make history in the competition and will be keen to repeat that feat this campaign too.

A 3-1 victory against Nottingham Forest saw a full Old Trafford in jubilation last May. 67,000 fans were present as Alejandro Garnacho scored a brace that helped secure a record 11th victory for The Reds since the competition’s introduction.

It was an opportunity for United supporters to familiarise themselves with some of the talented group that had been beginning to train and travel with the first-team squad, particularly Garnacho.

He has since gained superstardom in his short time with the first-team and is loved amongst the fanbase. Fans could be looking to scout the next star player in this season’s FA Youth Cup fixtures.

Despite playing all but one of their fixtures in the competition last term at the Theatre of Dreams, the young Reds will instead be travelling to London in the third-round this time around.

An away tie against Crystal Palace’s youngsters has been confirmed, with the date set for Sunday 11 December.

With the likes of Sam Murray, Tyler Fredricson, Maxi Oyedele, Dan Gore, and Kobbie Mainoo in Spain with the first-team, they could return to England in order to participate in the tie.

United famously trumpeted The Eagles in the final of the tournament back in 1992, where the likes of David Beckham, Gary Neville, and Paul Scholes played in a 6-3 aggregate win over two games.

Kick-off at Selhurst Park will be at 15:00 GMT and United are expected to progress as they aim to retain the cup.

The fixture will be shown live on MUTV but tickets are also available in the capital, with pricing being at £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.
