Erik ten Hag has gone with a strong line-up for his Manchester United side as they look to win their first trophy as a squad.

Erik ten Hag has explained the impact that a first trophy will have on this Manchester United squad, saying that his players “deserve” to play in the final after their recent form.

“It’s a great opportunity to get the silverware in, football is all about glory and honour,” he explained on Friday afternoon. “We deserve to play in the final and we have a great chance to win the cup. The fans are waiting for it (a trophy), so we’ll do everything we can.”

Marcus Rashford has been the side’s top scorer both in this competition and across all competitions this season, netting five goals and scoring in every round so far. He starts for United after an initial injury scare.

Casemiro and Raphael Varane, both of whom have extensive experience at winning trophies, are handed starts at Wembley, with Ten Hag making two changes – Antony comes in for Jadon Sancho, with Diogo Dalot replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius starts in the net for Newcastle United due to the unavailability of both Nick Pope (suspension) and Marin Dubravka (cup-tied).
