“Confidence…” – Wolves star warns teammates about Manchester United ‘problem’ ahead of Premier League clash

One Wolves star has warned his teammates about a ‘problem’ one Manchester United player can pose ahead of their Premier League clash.

Manchester United are preparing for one of their final away fixtures of 2025 as Rúben Amorim readies his side for a Monday night clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rob Edwards’ Wolves have endured a miserable campaign so far, sitting bottom of the Premier League with just two draws and ten defeats from their opening 14 matches.

But United don’t arrive in perfect shape either. Frustration is growing after another uninspiring display at Old Trafford, where they were held to a 1-1 draw against 18th-placed West Ham on Thursday.

With Amorim under pressure to secure a Champions League spot and questions beginning to surface over his future, the trip to Wolves is now being seen as a crucial must-win encounter.

United’s trip to the Molinuex Stadium will also see the return of Matheus Cunha after his summer move to Old Trafford.

Cunha was one of Wolves’ best players over the last couple of years and those within Rob Edwards’ squad and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has admitted that his former teammate can cause them ‘problems’.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Wolves midfielder said: “Matheus Cunha is a good player and we know that if you leave him with the ball and give him more confidence then this can be a problem for the whole team.

“But for us, we need to play closer to our strikers so we can help them grow in confidence, and push our defenders to stay tight and put other teams in danger.

“We know they’re a good team, so we can’t let them play, and we need to put in a lot of energy and make things difficult for them.”

Cunha can kick into form vs Wolves

Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have both seemed to drop off in their recent games after starting really brightly for United this season.

For the Brazilian, this game against his former club offers him the perfect opportunity to kick into form, which will be important when Mbeumo and Amad head off to AFCON.

One of the things that Cunha seems to be missing at United is a positive relationship with the wingback on his side. Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu rotate and neither have impressed much this term.

Cunha worked brilliantly with Rayan Aït-Nouri during his time at Wolves and he needs to build a similar connection at Old Trafford.

Fans also want to see the Brazilian closer to goal and hopefully he can net his second goal of the season on Monday evening.
